The Clarkson Women's Hockey team wrapped up the season series with St. Lawrence with a 3-1 win at Cheel this afternoon, which gave the Knights a 4-0-1 mark against the Saints this season.
Clarkson and the Saints skated to a scoreless tie for the first 20 minutes, similar to last night. The Saints held a 7-5 shot advantage in the 1st period.Â
Clarkson struck first when
Brooke McQuigge scored just 1:22 into the 2nd period, assisted by her sister Kirstyn and
Darcie Lappan.Â
SLU's Julia Gosling scored at 16:28 to tie the game in the 2nd. With 41 seconds left in the period, Clarkson's Gosling scored on a great setup from
Anne Cherkowski to give the Knights the lead heading into the intermission.
In the 3rd period, Clarkson would extend the lead when
Darcie Lappan's shot was saved by Lucy Morgan but collected by
Gabrielle David and sent into the open net with Morgan out of position.
Two penalties in the final 4 minutes made it hard for SLU to get the extra attacker on and the Knights were able to cruise to the 3-1 win.
The win is the 20th of the season and moves them to 9-4-1 in ECAC play.Â
