After a weekend off, the Knights got a strong start at Robert Morris, when
Anne Cherkowski scored just 4:01 into the opening period. Shots on goal were tilted heavy for the Knights in the first period, 17 to 7 and Clarkson registered 40 total shot attempts.
In the second period, the Colonials evened the game at 1-1, when Alaina Giampeitro scored at 3:12. Clarkson didn't let tie stand long as
Darcie Lappan got her 2
nd goal of the season to make it 2-1 at 5:21. Cherkowski would get a second goal at 17:27 to put the Knights up 3-1 entering the break.
In the third period, Clarkson would get a power play goal from
Keira Hurry, her 3
rd of the season. Then on the penalty kill,
Darcie Lappan would get her 2
nd of the game with an empty net shortie.Â
Lappan would finish with 2 goals and assist,
Dominique Petrie would continue to add to her point total with an assist.
Clarkson was 1 for 6 with the power play, while holding the Colonials to no goals on 4 chances.
Clarkson out shot RMU 54 to 14, continuing the Knights streak of holding opponents to under 20 shots against for every game this season.Â
Michelle Pasiechnyk made 13 saves for the win.
Clarkson will face RMU again at 3pm tomorrow before heading home for their ECAC opener next weekend.
