Clarkson will enter the ECAC portion of their schedule after going 7-0-1 in the first run through non-conference play.
Clarkson got the lead at 12:50 of the opening period, when
Brooke McQuigge scored her second of the season on the Power Play. The offensive zone pressure helped set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Knights out shot the Colonials, 14-4 in the opening frame.
Clarkson would take a 2-0 lead in the third period when
Alexie Guay would get her 3rd of the season at 11:43.
Haley Winn would get her 2nd assist of the game, along with a helper from
Nicole Gosling.
Robert Morris would pull their goalie at 17:51 and then with the extra attacker RMU's Alaina Giampietro would pull the Colonials within 1 when she scored at 17:56. RMU would get their goalie off again, but be whistled for too many players on the ice, allowing the Knights to ride out the rest of the game on the power play.
The Knights would attempt 68 shots and out shoot RMU 36 to 16 for the game, making the 8th game this season in which the Knights have held a team to 20 shots or less.
Next, the Knights will welcome Quinnipiac and Princeton to Cheel for the opening of ECAC play. Both games next weekend will be 3:00 pm starts.
