Cambridge, MA – A tough Harvard team pushed the Knights to the end, but a late empty net goal sealed the road win for Clarkson and helped pick up 3 huge league points.
The first period saw the Knights jump out to a 1-0 lead when
Jaidan Fahrny scored her first goal as a Golden Knight at the 3:29 mark.
Emily Wisnewski and
Florence Lessard helped with the goal.
Early in the 2nd period, Harvard would tie the game, when Ellie Bayard was able to score for the Crimson.
Gabrielle David would put the Knights back up one at 4:17 with her 18th goal of the season. Clarkson would carry the lead for much of the period, but with just 2:17 on the clock Harvard would tie the game again when Jenna McDonald scored.
In the 3rd period, the Knights would get help from the power play, when
Stephanie Markowski would get her 2nd of the season at 8:03. David and
Anne Cherkowski would be credited with assists. Harvard would put on the pressure late and get their goalie off for the extra attacker, but
Sena Catterall was able to collect the puck on the half wall and send it down into the empty net to secure the win for Clarkson.
Michelle Pasiechnyk would make 20 saves for the Golden Knights, earning her 18th win on the season.
Clarkson was 1 for 3 on the power play and held Harvard to 0 for 1 on the power play.
The log jam for the top 5 got even closer as Colgate beat first-place Yale, which means 2 points separate 1st (Yale) and 2nd (Colgate), 3rd (Qpac) is just another ½ point behind and Clarkson sits behind Quinnipiac.
