Box Score
The Clarkson University Women's Hockey team fell into an early hole and could not recover against sixth-ranked Boston University, losing to the Terriers 5-2 in the second game of a non-league series on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights, who lost 3-1 to Boston University on Friday, stand at 3-3 overall. Clarkson, ranked 7th in the national polls entering the weekend, plays a home-and-home series with Syracuse University next weekend before beginning ECAC Hockey action at the end of October.

"I give BU a lot of credit for the way they came in and performed this weekend." stated Clarkson head coach Matt Desrosiers. "These two games showed us a lot of things that we need to focus on and work on moving forward if we want to be successful. We need to make sure that we learn from these games and have a good week of practice in order to prepare and get better for our games next weekend against Syracuse",

Boston University (3-1) wasted little time in setting the pace for Saturday's game, scoring two early goals to start the opening period.

Just 50 seconds in Marie-Philip Poulin took a short pass from Sarah Lefort and wristed in a shot from the slot. The Terriers scored again at 3:50 with Rebecca Leslie finishing off a long pass along the right boards from Rebecca Russo and flipping a shot in at the top of the crease. With 1:13 remaining Boston University took a 3-0 lead on a goal by Victoria Bach.

Clarkson got on the scoreboard at 7:11 when senior Christie Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) stuffed in a shot from the left side of the net for her first goal of the season after taking a pass behind the goal from junior Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK). Sophomore Jessica Gillham (Uxbridge, ONT) also assisted.

The Terriers regained their three-goal lead later in the middle frame when Jordan Juron knocked in a rebound off a shot by Poulin at the top of the crease at 15:21.

Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) tallied Clarkson's second goal at 11:39 of the third. Mercer, who has eight points on the year, picked up a loose puck at center ice and skated into the slot where she lifted in a backhand shot for her fourth goal of season.

Poulin closed out the scoring with her second goal of the day and fourth of the season, converting into n empty net with 70 seconds remaining.

Both teams had 23 shot on goal. Clarkson was 0-of-2 on the power play, while the Terriers were 0-of-1.

Freshman Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) played the first two periods in the Clarkson goal and posted 14 saves on 18 shots through 40 minutes. Senior Emily Horn (Hamilton, ONT) closed out the game for the Knights, turning aside all four shots she faced.
