Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Knights blank Pioneers in season opener

The Clarkson Golden Knights opened the 2022-23 season with a dominating win at Sacred Heart.  The scoreboard didn't reflect the overwhelming shot and time of possession edge that favored the Golden Knights.

Missing Nicole Gosling and Brooke McQuigge, the Knights were still able to generate 90 shot attempts in which 49 shots made it on goal, while only allowing 9 shots on net.

In the first period the Knights took the lead at 19:33 when Gabrielle David scored moving her closer to the 100 point mark for her career.  Transfer Darcie Lappan got her first of 2 assist on the night.
The Knights had 18 shots against the Pioneers in the first, Michelle Pasiechnyk only needed to make 1 save.

In the second period, the Knights once again sustained heavy pressure and it paid off at 18:58 when Bailey Kirwan scored to put the Knights up 2-0.  Paige Hull notched her first career point as a Golden Knight with the assist.

The Knights extended the lead late in the 3rd period when Anne Cherkowski was able to put a shot in under the crossbar putting Clarkson up 3-0 which is how the game would end.  Lappan and Hull would assist on the goal to give each 2 points on the night.

Clarkson did not get on the power play but were able to kill off all 3 chances for SHU with the power play. Pasiechnyk played all 60 minutes and made 9 saves on 9 shots.

Clarkson will take on Sacred Heart again tomorrow when the two teams face off at 2:30.
