Despite outshooting the Engineers 50 to 9, the Knights need an extra 22 seconds to get the win at RPI tonight.
Gabrielle David was the hero for Clarkson tallying her 14th of the year in overtime.
Clarkson held a 17-2 shot advantage after the first 60 minutes but went into the break knotted at 0's. In the 2nd period, the Engineers took the lead 1-0 when Nyah Phillps scored at 4:39 and the lead would hold going into the 3rd, despite the Knights outshooting RPI 14 to 4 in the middle frame.
Clarkson would tie the game in the 3rd when
Jaden Bogden would get her 4th of the season at 2:16, with assists from
Gretchen Branton and
Haley Winn. The Knights again dominated the period on the shot chart, 18-3.
Clarkson would win the face-off in overtime, and carry the puck deep into the Engineers' zone, which led to David feeding a cutting
Haley Winn. As Winn drove the net, David beat her coverage to the slot, and was able to corral the loose puck and beat Amanda Rampado to the wide side 22 seconds into the overtime for the win.
Julia Minotti would get the start for the Knights and make 8 saves on the night.
Clarkson was 0-2 on the power play and kept RPI off the board on their 2 chances.
Next up Clarkson will head to Schenectady tomorrow for a 3:00 pm face-off with Union.
