Clarkson traveled to Providence for a weeknight game against the Friars, but a strong 2nd period fueled Providence to a 5-2 win.
Providence scored early, just 1:25 into the game, but the Knights were able to get the equalizer when
Tommy Pasanen scored at 13:05 of the 1st. In the 2nd period another early goal against & penalties got the Knights in trouble as they gave up 2 power play goals to Providence, to go down 4-1 heading into the intermission. Â
In the 3rd, the Knights would draw to within 2 goals, when
Anthony Callin scored at 18:34, but with the net empty the Friars were able to ice with with a fifth goal with :01 left on the clock.
Clarkson was 0 for 2 with the man advantage, while allowing 2 goals on 4 chances for Providence. Â
Ethan Haider made 30 saves on the Knights in net for the Knights.
The Knights, who fall to 0-3, all to Hockey East opponents, will have the weekend off as they prepare for Mercyhurst to come to Cheel for a 2 game set on Oct. 21 & 22
