In a game in which the Knights out chanced and out shot the Bulldogs, a fluke set of plays led Yale getting the OT winner on Friday night at Cheel Arena.
Yale took the lead in the first period with a breakaway goal when the Knights turned the puck over at the Yale blueline. Clarkson tied the game in the second period when
Mathieu Gosselin scored from
Tommy Pasanen and
Alex Campbell. Â
As the third period started Yale took the lead back just 24 seconds into the frame. On the power play and with the extra attacker, Gosselin got his 2nd of the game with just 32 seconds left on the clock to tie the game.Â
Anthony Callin and Romano assisted. The Knights got a faceoff with 3.2 left in the game in the Yale zone but couldn't convert. Â
In OT Clarkson had a breakaway chance by Gosselin, but with just over a minute left in OT Cole Donhauser ended up with a breakaway ans scored when Jacome lost an edge in the neutral zone.
Clarkson was 1 for 4 on the power play and held Yale to 0 for 3. Â
Ethan Haider made 17 saves as the Knights out shot the Bulldogs 37 to 20.Â
Tomorrow the Knights will close out the regular season against Brown and honor their senior class. Â
