Clarkson was able to capitalize on goals in each period and a 27 save shutout to blank the Crimson 3-0 in a game that will look to the blueprint for how the Knights win games going forward. Â
Â
Clarkson held a young but talented Harvard team in check most of the night by using their puck possession as a defensive weapon, especially in the 3rd period when the Knights possessed the puck in Harvard's zone for several extended shifts and out shot the Crimson 12-3 in the final 20 minutes.Â
Â
The Golden Knights started off with the first goal of the game at 10:52 into the 1st by
Ryan Taylor, assisted by
Kaelan Taylor and
Ellis Rickwood. For Taylor, it is his 5th goal of the season.
Â
The Golden Knights scored again 1:47 into the 2nd from a goal by
Erik Bargholtz being assisted by
Oliver Moberg and
Daimon Gardner. The assist for Moberg was his first point as a Golden Knight. After getting back to back penalty kills the Golden Knights held the Crimson scoreless through the rest of the period, carrying a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Â
In the 3rd, Harvard would just not be able to mount any 5 on 5 pressure. They pulled their goalie with 2:21 left, but Clarkson ended up with several shots at the empty net before an empty net goal at 18:49 by
Erik Bargholtz sealed if for the Knights.Â
Trey Taylor and
Mathieu Gosselin would get the assists on Bargoltz's 2nd of the game and 3rd of the year.Â
Â
Austin Roden, a winner of 4 straight, earned his first shut out as a Golden Knight with 27 saves.
Â
Next the Golden Knights look to keep the momentum going as they take on the Dartmouth Big Green tomorrow at 4:00pm.
